This forum is the 10th in a series of events and workshops organized by Integrity Initiative to promote ethics, integrity, compliance and good governance, and to continuously educate the private sector in these area. Integrity Initiative is a private-sector led campaign that aims to promote ethical stndards mong various sectors of society. It operates on the principle of inclusion and collective action.

This forum will feature the fifth Focus Area – Finance and Accounting -- identified by Integrity Initiative as areas most susceptible to unethical practices in companies. Previous Integrity Forums discussed the other four areas -- Top Management, Human Resources, Sales and Marketing, and Supply Management/Procurement. The resource persons will expound on “Ethics in Finance and Accounting” and will highlight the vital role of gatekeepers, financial management and disclosures for stakeholders, understanding conflicts of interest, need for independence, expertise and self-regulation, among other topics.

The forum will also discuss the urgency for a whistleblowing facility within organizations. A 2010 study by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners revealed that 40% of occupational fraud was detected through tips and whistleblowing. Clearly, whistleblowing can reduce the 5% estimated annual loss in corporate revenues due to fraud.
